Nearly 1,200 workers of the BJP had gathered to met local unit chief, Sanjay Tandon, party affairs incharge, Aarti Mehra, party’s Lok Sabha candidate, Kirron Kher, senior leader, Satya Pal Jain. Party’s organisational general secretary Ajay Jamwal also participated.

Sources added that both the leaders come from Mauli Jagran area and have been at loggerheads for long over control of the area. An incident of firing had been reported some months back.

“There was an argument at 7 pm before the meeting. When the meeting ended and senior leaders left the party office. Some supporters of Mukesh Rai, who were not part of the workers meet entered the office and went into the room where peace was being brokered between the two,” sources said.

One of the supporters of Rai tried to stab Dubey in his belly, but he escaped and knife pierced into his thighs. This resulted in widespread violence between both the groups inside the hall and they threw chairs at each other.

Blood could be seen splashed all across the floors of the entrance hall in the office and broken helmets and chairs were strwen all around.

Sources said Dubey and one Deepak have sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to GMCH, Sector-32. Mukesh Rai and three of his supporters, two of whom also sustained minor injuries have been rounded up and were in police station at Sector-34 till the filing of the report.

Local police SHO Rajesh Shukla said that two people were injured and had been admitted to a nearby hospital.

“It appears they were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. We are yet to receive any complaint,” he said. Party general secretary Prem Kaushik, who was also at the spot, when contacted said that it was their personal rivalry and party had nothing to do with it.

Sources said that tension had gripped the Mauli Jagran area, to which both the leaders belong and additional police forces have been deployed in the area.
