Canada keen to set up agri-food, education units in state

Businesss establishments in Canada have evinced keen interest in setting up units in Haryana in the fields of agriculture, agri-food, food processing, education and renewable energy for which the state has huge potential, according to an official release on Saturday.

An offer in this context came after a 30-member delegation of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Canada, led by the ICCC president Nawal Bajaj, called on Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Saturday. The delegation also included MP Jo Deniel and CEO Watno Dur TV and Radio Network, Sukhi Nijjar.

They invited Hooda to visit Canada which he accepted, the release said and added that Bajaj also told Hooda that during the last three years, the ICCC had brought about 300 businesses with them. As Haryana had huge potential in sectors like education, agriculture, food processing and renewable energy, the business cooperation with Haryana could go a long way in strengthening the business community in Canada.

Responding to the request of mutual cooperation in the field of renewable energy, Hooda said Haryana was looking for entrepreneurs to set up their ventures in this field. Besides, the state has a huge network of canals, which could be used for harvesting renewable energy.

Referring to education sector as one of the key areas offering great scope for mutual cooperation, Hooda said that Haryana would emerge as an education hub of international repute.

On behalf of the federal and provincial government, Canada, Bajaj invited Hooda to visit Canada, which would further encourage the business community in Canada. Hooda accepted the offer, the release added.

Chandumajra hooted, dung thrown at car in Morinda village
