Referring to the Cobrapost sting operation, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate for the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on Tuesday asked former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Congress candidate from Amritsar, to prevail upon his party high command to act against its leaders responsible for instigating the mob in 1984, if he felt any remorse.

Harsimrat said the truth of the 1984 genocide was out finally and Amarinder should answer if the police officers who had confessed that their top brass had colluded with the Congress leadership "to teach a lesson to Sikhs" were lying.

The Bathinda candidate said the sting operation had also nailed the lie of Amarinder that one of the main accused, Jagdish Tytler, was not involved in the carnage. "The role of the Congress leadership is exposed and it is clear now that it first prevailed upon the police not to take preventive measure and, later, encouraged the carnage by ordering the force not to open fire at the rioters," Harsimrat added.
