The case hearing had been scheduled on February 9, 2013, but since the court was closed on account of second Saturday, the CBI court had told Deshraj to appear on February 16.

The former police officer was arrested in a bribery case in 2012, and was in judicial custody at the Burail jail since October 21, 2012. The high court had granted him bail in December 2012 on the ground of his minor daughter's illness. She has been suffering from brachial plexopathy, for which she is getting regular treatment at the Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai since 2010. Her surgery was to be conducted on December 3, 2012.

He was present in the court on Saturday with his counsel Vishal Garg Narwana.
