Celebratory firing in Haryana wedding ends in death

The Karnal police on Tuesday arrested a man whose celebratory gunfire left his relative dead at a village here on Sunday.w
After arresting suspect Ram Sharan from near the Panipat bus stand, the police charged him with murder. He had already been booked under the Arms Act.


Sharan had gone to Kaimla village, near here, on Sunday to attend marriage of his nephew and allegedly opened fire from his licenced gun.

The bullet allegedly hit Dhoop Singh, maternal uncle of the groom, in the stomach.

Though he was rushed to the hospital, Dhoop died on Sunday night.

Superintendent of police Shashank Anand cautioned that celebratory firing was prohibited in the state and the police would initiate strict action for its violation.
