Dismissed UT police cops - Sunil and Akshay, will be tried for the rape of a minor resident of Khuda Lahora. The three co-accused Jagtar Singh, Himmat Singh and Anil will face trial for molesting the minor schoolgirl for months.
Additional district and sessions judge, Anshu Shukla, presiding over the special court for crime against women, on Thursday, framed charges against the accused and adjourned the case to March 13, when the trial is likely to commence.
On December 19, the UT Police had arrested and dismissed five constables Akshay, Sunil, Jagtar, Himmat Singh and Anil.
In her complaint, the victim had accused Sunil and Akshay of raping her. She had accused the remaining three of molesting her and even blackmailing her.

What they face
Under Section 376 (ii) of IPC, the accused could be sentenced to a minimum imprisonment of 10 years, while the maximum punishment that can be awarded to the accused is life term.
o Police have alleged Akshay and Sunil, had raped the minor resident of Khuda Lahora, while the three other co-accused - Jagtar Singh, Himmat Singh and Anil, had molested the minor school girl for months together.

Court to get female public prosecutor
Considering the sensitivity of the case, a female public prosecutor would be appointed to the special court for crime against women. Sources said that the notification designating a special court for crime against women had specified that a lady public prosecutor be appointed to the court.
