Months after the Chautala village panchayat received a grant of `55 lakh of the `1.11 crore announced by MP Deepnder Singh Hooda, the administration has reportedly asked the panchayat to surrender the grant.

Panchayat sarpanch Atmaram Chhimpa said that they were planning to use the money for laying streets and it was shocking that they would have to return the money.

Former officer on special duty to the chief minister, KV Singh, on October 12, 2013, organised a programme of MP Deepender Hooda at the village, where the latter announced a grant of `1.11 crore to the panchayat for the construction of the streets. On February 28, 2014, the government deposited `55 lakh in the account of the gram panchayat as the first instalment of the grant.

Congress leader from Dabwali KV Singh said that the grant was lying unused even five months after `55 lakh was deposited in the panchayat account. "So, I urged the government to transfer the grant money from panchayat to the development XEN so that the development work can be started in the village," he said.
