City girl selected for Rashtrapati Bhawan in-residence scheme

City girl Manisha Mohan has been selected to stay at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, under the prestigious ‘ Innovation Scholars In-Residence’ scheme.

Manisha Mohan, a third year BTech student at SRM University, Chennai, is the daughter of PU’s department of geography professor Krishna Mohan.

The scheme, which was launched in December 2013, aims at providing writers and artists an opportunity to stay at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for one month and experience the life there.

Mohan is one of the four people selected. She had developed a costume for women safety (bra) called the SHE (Society Harnessing Equipment that delivers a 3800kv electric shock.

The device sends a text message to a relative or friend along with GPS coordinates of one’s location.
Manisha Mohan has also been a recipient of Gandhian Young Talent Innovation Award 2013.
