City throngs at book fair

Chandigarh Book Fair witnessed a good turnout on the fifth day of the event on Sunday.

A workshop on creative writing and layout designing conducted by resource persons of National Book Trust engaged a sizeable section of the young visitors at the fair.


As many as 160 students registered for career counselling free of cost at the desk of State Institution of Education, (SIE), Sector-32.

The 'author talks' event with Sachin Garg and other budding writers also pulled a sizeable crowd. The day also witnessed the releases of books 'Kavita Khatam Nahi Hoti' by Anand Sharma Anant,'Parat Aao Parth' by Subash Sharma. Pam Handa's book 'Kismat and Karma' was released by noted Punjabi poet Parminder Jit, who talked about his creative journey and also recited his poems.

The session was conducted by Madhav Kaushik, secretary of Sahitya Academy, and Manju Jaidka. Colonel Gursewak Singh (retd), a consultant on stress management, released his book on strees management, reiky, pranic healing, Japanese zen therapy, yoga and pranayam to seek solutions of human emotional distress.

Famous poets such as Navin Neer, Vijay Kapoor, Musvir Ferojpuri, Anita Surbhi, Satish Popular and Amarjit Amar enthralled the audience in the kavi darbar.
