Class 10 girl commits suicide

A Class 10 student committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her room.


The deceased was identified as Jasdeep Kaur, a resident of Kumbra village in SAS Nagar, was found hanging in her room at around 3pm.

Father of the deceased, Malkiat Singh, told the police that he had dropped his daughter Jasdeep Kaur at home at around 12 in the afternoon and had noticed nothing unusual. He said that Jasdeep had retired to her room and around 2.45pm her mother knocked the door to give her tea, but she had not opened the door.

Malkiat added that when the door was opened she was found hanging from the fan with the help of a dupatta.

"We did not find a suicide note on the spot. The girl used to study in a Phase-10 school," said SHO of Phase-8, Gurdeep Singh.
