Chief minister Virbhadra Singh demanded to deploy Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) along the Chamba-Jammu and Kashmir Border.

The chief minister met home minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday in New Delhi and demanded the deployment of ITBP again on the Chamba border in the wake of terrorism-hit Jammu and Kashmir district.

The Chamba district of the state shares the border with Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier till 2012, the ITBP was deployed on the Chamba-Jammu border, but it was withdrawn later.

There were nearly 24 posts along the border adjoining Doda and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir, of which 9 were guarded by the ITBP till January 2012. After the ITBP was given marching orders, border security came under the state police.

Earlier Virbhadra Singh also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

During his meeting with Rajnath Singh, the chief minister  apprised him of the state's projects. He said since the state shares border with sensitive state and country, so the security was the main concern in the state. “Himachal is a peaceful state but shares international border,” added he.

Virbhadra also accentuated upon the modernization of the police forces in the wake of advanced technology used by terror groups. “There is need to keep vigil on the situation besides modernising the forces,” said he.

He raked up the issue of volunteers trained by Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and after reorganisation they were not inducted in the forces. The chief minister urged Rajnath Singh to look into this matter. Earlier even the court had directed the Union government to induct these volunteers into army.

Virbhadra Singh also urged home minister to increase the allowance of special police officials on interstate border from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6000.

OMG! MSG is finally here

For once, Salman bhai must be having sleepless nights, and Shahrukh Khan must already be counting his days in the industry. PK or no PK, Aamir ‘sincere’ Khan would probably be the only Khan of the troika who would somehow find a way to remain in the industry despite this tsunami. Even Rajinikanth must be mulling retirement after all.Writes Aarish Chhabra
