On Saturday, the All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) general secretary and Communist Party of India (CPI) leader spoke with the media at Nuhon Colony of Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant here after a conference of the AITUC. "The policies of both parties resulted in price rise and unemployment," Dasgupta said.

He said the Left parties would fight against the "anti-people" and "anti-worker" policies of the Congress and the BJP. "On December 12, members of 11 trade unions will march to Parliament in New Delhi to oppose these policies," the communist leader added.

Earlier, at the AITUC conference, Dasgupta asked party workers to be ready for "a big struggle against the government". AITUC Punjab president Bant Brar, general secretary Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, Rupnagar district president RK Tiwari, and former Punjab State Electricity Board Employees Federation president Radhey Shyam also spoke.
