Punjab Congress and People's Party of Punjab on Tuesday announced an alliance at a jointly held press conference at Chandigarh Press Club. Both the parties would contest on a combined manifesto.
Speaking at the conference, Manpreet Badal said that the PPP has joined hands with Congress mainly to end the drug mafia nexus in Punjab. "PPP needed a support of a national secular party for the same, hence this alliance," he said

He also informed that for the Bathinda seat the PPP would be contesting on its own election symbol i.e., kite.

When asked about the alliance with CPI(M), PPP president informed that the Punjab unit of CPI(M) will independently decide on joining hands with the Congress and would be announcing its decision in a couple of days. Also Read: Pact with Cong is the second blunder by Manpreet: Badal
