Punjab Congress spokesman Sukhpal Singh Khaira said here on Sunday that the special leave petition (SLP) filed by the state revenue department in the Supreme Court last year, challenging the formation of the Justice Kuldip Singh tribunal by the Punjab and Haryana high court, had exposed the double standards of revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

"After misleading the Vidhan Sabha on the contents of the tribunal report, Majithia is now misusing public platforms to selectively pick and choose portions of the report to target his political rivals, particularly PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa, although his own department challenged the tribunal in the Supreme Court," said Khaira.

He added that the financial commissioner, revenue, while challenging the setting up of the tribunal, had referred to the high court order for forming the tribunal as "erroneous" in the SLP.

By doing so, Majithia not only committed breach of privilege in the Vidhan Sabha but also indulged in unethical and immoral politics, Khaira said.

The Punjab Congress spokesman stated that before accusing Bajwa of owning shamlat land, the revenue minister forgot that his financial commissioner, revenue, justified all sale deeds presented before the registration office, quoting Section 32 of the registration act, 1908.

Khaira has sought an apology from Majithia for "hoodwinking and concealing" actual content of the tribunal report.
