Counselling for admission for 50 additional seats for MBBS was conducted at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, on Wednesday.

While in its first counselling conducted on June 23, the college had only 50 seats, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had, over a fortnight ago, allowed the college to increase its MBBS intake by 50, doubling the seats.

At the counselling session on Wednesday a few parents submitted a representation against the colleges decision to shift students who had taken admission under the SC category under the general category with retrospective effect. Objecting to the move, parents said that while the college make the shift in the fresh merit list prepared for the additional seats, it could not do so for those who have already been admitted to the college in the first counselling session.

Confirming that they have received the representation, college authorities said it would be considered.
