Punjab's director general of police, Suresh Arora, felicitated the state police personnel and officers for smooth conduct of the parliamentary elections. The spokesman added that the Punjab Police-HDFC Bank Scholarship was being launched under which the bank would grant scholarships of up to `10 lakh to the academically brilliant wards of police personnel.

Students from Class 8 to 12 securing 90% and Grade A would get `1,000 per month. Similarly, students doing graduation securing 90% and Grade A would get `1,500 a month; and those pursuing professional/higher education to get `2,000 a month on securing 90%.
