Congress candidate Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, a sitting MLA from Nabha, kickstarted his election campaign on Thursday by paying obeisance at Gurdwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib.

Putting up a united face, Congress and People’s Party of Punjab( PPP) leaders marked their presence in the welcome rally. Those who were present on the occasion included Kuljeet Singh Nagra ,Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Kaka Randeep Singh, Amrik Singh Dhillon, Harinder Bhambari, senior vice-president of the PPP Gurpreet Bhatti and district unit PPP president Jagmeet Bawa.

However, the sitting MP, Sukhdev Singh Libra was absent at the welcome rally which created a doubt that he seemed not happy with the decision of the Congress high command.

Talking to media, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot made it clear that he met Sukhdev Singh Libra on Wednesday night and he gave him full support and blessings. He also said he could not attend the programme because of a social commitment.

Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said he had been serving the area for the last 25 years and he was sure of his victory because of his consistent hard work for the development of the area. He said that the people would cast their votes in favour of the Congress to make him victorious.

He criticised the ruling SAD-BJP government saying that the people of the state were fed up with the policies of the ruling government. Supporters of the Congress started thronging the gurdwara since morning , waiting for Dharamsot. Supporters welcomed him with  garlands.
