Addressing a rally at Gandhi Chowk in the town after filing the nomination papers, Dhumal called on the people of the state to vote in the favour of the Bharaitya Janata Party (BJP) and reject the Congress party.

Taking a dig upon Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Virbhadra Singh, Dhumal said the Congress was raising unnecessary hue and cry over the corruption in state and now a tainted person was leading the party.

"It seems that the party has no other capable leader to lead it in the state," said Dhumal.

Lashing out at the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, Dhumal alleged that the Congress has once again mortgaged the nation in the hands of foreign powers by resorting to Foreign Direct Investment (FCI) in multi-brand retail sector.

Dhumal called upon the party workers to remind the people of all scams exposed during the tenure of the UPA government. He told party workers to bring the 'factual picture' before the electors and ensure the victory of party candidates.

"The present government in the centre was the most corrupt in the history of the government," said Dhumal, adding that while the people in the state will choose BJP for the development, the Centre will be thrown out of power in next general elections.

Dhumal also hit out the UPA government at the Centre for its indifferent attitude towards the hill state. Dhumal alleged that the various proposals given by the state government were pending with the Centre.

He criticised the Centre for increasing inflation, rising prices of petroleum products and cap on the domestic LPG cylinders.

Speaking on the achievements of the current government, Dhumal said the state government has lived up to the expectation of the people of the state and has fulfilled all the promises made in election manifesto.

He claimed unity in the rank and file of the party, adding that the party was sure to achieve the target of "mission repeat 2012" with the help and blessings of the people of the state.

Dhumal gave complete details of the works done by the party government during its past five years' rule in the state and assured people that the party would continue to maintain the same if voted to power again.

Earlier, a grand reception was accorded to Dhumal when he reached Hamirpur from his native village of Samirpur to file his papers to contest the elections for the state assembly.

He also visited the temple of Awahdevi temple in the earlier hours along with his family members and offered prayers there.
