The Banur police on Tuesday produced Surjeet Singh, close aide of drug lord Jagdish Bhola, in the district courts here, where he was sent to three-day police remand.

Surjeet Singh, a resident of New Delhi, who allegedly supplied stolen vehicles to Bhola for smuggling narcotics, was arrested by the Meerut police three months ago after he met with an accident and failed to produce the documents of the vehicle and the police later found that the vehicle was stolen.

He was taken on production warrants by Bathinda police and then by Patiala police. Surjeet was named in the FIR, which was registered against Bhola and his close aide Sarabjeet Singh Saba under the NDPS Act at Banur police station.

Surjeet, who was allegedly involved in preparing fake documents for the stolen vehicles, is considered one of the important parts of the multi-crore drug racket who used to steal vehicles from other states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Many cases of vehicle theft have been registered against Surjeet in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh and in various police stations in Bathinda, Patiala and Ludhiana.

After the arrest of Surjeet, the Banur police also took him to the production warrant for investigation in the drug case.
