Charges were framed against Bhola and six others under sections 379 (theft), 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (fraudulently and dishonestly using forged documents as genuine), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal etc.) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), besides various section of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act.

The court would begin recording evidence against Bhola and his accomplices, namely Sarabjeet Singh Sabba, Parminder Pamma, Baljinder Singh alias Sonu and Deep Singh (all from Amritsar), Delhi resident Surjeet Singh and Panchkula's Satinder Dhama, on August 25.

Co-accused Jagjit Singh Chahal and Maninder Singh Bittu Aulakh, both Amritsar-based businessmen, would face trial only under the NDPS Act.

The court discharged NRI Anoop Kahlon of the allegations against him in the case registered by the Banur police. Kahlon was brought on production warrants from Fatehgarh Sahib, where a drugs case still stands against him. No evidence was found against him and no recovery had been made from him in the drug racket during the investigations in the Banur police case.

After the framing of charges, the police arrested Deep Singh and Surjeet Singh, who had been on bail.
