The Election Commission of India (EC) would launch a fortnight-long campaign from September 26 to October 10 to weed out duplicate entries in the electoral rolls.

"In this exercise, the commission's emphasis is on having error-free rolls. If pre-revision activities start now, we will have sufficient time for them before the announcement of the schedule for revision of electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2015, as the qualifying date," a spokesman said here.

The photography campaign for residual electors, whose images are not available in the rolls (house-to-house campaign to collect the images of residual electors) started on August 8 and would continue till October 10. The updating of control tables (including updating of polling stations' information) and the database would be done by October 22.
