Eight days later, tutor held for attempting to rape student

The police on Tuesday arrested the Zirakpur-based tuition teacher who had allegedly molested and tried to rape a student of his on April 31.


Anand Aggarwal has been produced before a court and remanded in police custody for a day.
The police claimed that Aggarwal had left his house in Zirakpur soon after the incident and was arrested from Haryana.

On April 31, Ag g arwal, resident of Mamta Enclave in Zirakpur, had allegedly called only the victim to the tuition centre at his house. As soon as she entered the classroom, Aggarwal locked the door and forced himself on his student, who is a student of bachelors of commerce. The accused also assaulted the victim when she resisted.

On hearing the victim’s screams, neighbours of the accused rescued the girl. However, Aggarwal managed to flee the spot. Aggarwal is facing charges under sections 376 (rape), 511 (attempt to commit offence) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of Indian Penal Code.
