Ex-husband arrested for rape

A woman here got a rape case registered against her former husband at the Sector 14 police station on Sunday night.

The woman (31), resident of Fatehgarh Sahib, told the police that in 2008 she got married to Sector 14 resident Jitender Pal. They got divorced in May, 2013, and she started living at her parental home.
Meanwhile, Pal got married again as per the complaint.

She claimed that a few days ago, Pal called her at his residence and asked her to stay with him.
Then she started living with him. During her stay, she was allegedly raped and her luggage was also thrown out of the house.

He also allegedly threatened her to stay quiet otherwise he would kill her.

On woman's complaint, a case under section 376 (for rape) and section 506 (for criminal intimidation) was registered at Sector 14 police station. "We have arrested the accused and produced him before the court on Monday. He has been sent to judicial custody," said sub inspector Ishwar Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 14 police station.
