Political pundits aren’t the only ones reeling off their predictions on the elections. The soothsayers are also prompt in declaring what the stars foretell about the parties and contestants.

As per astrologers, numerologists and other soothsayers, the celestial bodies are ‘shining’ on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) combine, followed by the Congress in the April 30 parliamentary polls in Punjab. The stars don’t seem to favour the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) much in their debut election.

Renowned astrologer P Khurran a has not given a party-wise forecast, but predicts unexpected results and happenings. “The polls are on Wednesday and the mercury is in the fifth house, which means the planet is in favour of people. The voter’s mind can change at the last moment. The candidates must go to Durga Devi temple, keep a green handkerchief in the pocket on the polling day,” he says.

Chandigarh-based tarot card reader Gargi Arora predicts a strong performance by the AAP, followed by the SAD-BJP combine and t he Cong re s s. “The SAD-BJP combine aren’t in a happy position,” she says. Seema, another tarot card reader form SAS Nagar, predicts a clear edge for the SAD-BJP alliance. “They get the ‘hanged man’ card which implies no matter what I have to win. It is a very powerful and competitive card. As per the cards, the two parties may not agree completely with each other, but will not fight with each other. For the Congress, I see the chariot card. They have the royal support, but the leaders are not strong themselves.”

Ludhiana-based astrologer Rachna Shar ma foretells an i mpress ive s howing by t he Congress due to its strong planetary position. Another astrologer from the city, Mayank Dhasmana, says the elections results will be unexpected this time.

“The Congress vote bank may increase, but it will not emerge victorious. The AAP’s future may be bright in the coming years, but not in these elections. The ruling alliance will take seven seats,” he predicts.
