Under the new policy, the exemption would extend to those units to be set up in industrial areas, industrial estates, industrial focal points, approved industrial parks and industrial zones of different master plans or the draft master plan.

Disclosing this on Sunday, an official spokesperson said that however, the industries to be set up in areas other than these would have to get the site clearance under Section 41-A of the Factories Act, 1948.

It was revealed that all the industries which had to be exempted from site clearance would have to meet all other statutory requirements under various acts and obtain required approvals from the directorate of factories, and the Punjab Pollution Control Board.
