Denizens, especially those living on first and second floors, were bearing the brunt after two pipelines of Phases 3 and 4 at Kajauli water works were damaged while workers were carrying out digging work for laying pipes under phase-5 and 6 on August 20.

At present water is being supplied from two pipelines of Phases 1 and 2.

SS Bidda, chief engineer, MC Chandigarh, said, "The pipe has been repaired and normal supply will be resumed by Monday evening. Though the Chandigarh MC, which maintains Phase 3 of Kajauli water works, had repaired its pipe two days back, we were waiting for Punjab to complete their part of work of Phase 4."

BJP leads rally against no water supply

The residents of Sanjay Colony under the leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Shakti Prakash Devshali on Sunday protested against area councillor Satish Kainth and member of Parliament Pawan Kumar Bansal over no water supply for the past three days. Residents took out a protest march from the colony to the main road and later blocked it for around one hour.

While addressing the protest, Devshali said residents of the colony were suffering due to no water supply for the past three days, but neither Kainth nor Bansal had time to look into their problem.

BJP state vice-president Hari Shankar Mishra said if the Congress-led MC could not provide drinking water to residents, it had no right to remain in power.
