Four students arrested for smashing car window panes

Two days after 14 window panes of 14 cars, including a bus were found broken, the police on Sunday arrested four students for the act which created panic among residents.Accused, identified as Harsh Luthra, is a native of Haryana, while Shubam and Amandeep Singh belong to Gurdaspur.

All of them are BTech students at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, in SAS Nagar district, while fourth accused Sukhvir Singh, who hails from Gurdaspur, studies at Gurdaspur. Station house officer (SHO), Phase 8, Gurdeep Singh said, “All four were putting up as paying guests in Sector 68, and they vandalised the cars in retaliation, when PG owner Sanjeev Puri did not return their security amount of Rs.7000, even after leaving the PG.
They also stole music systems from some cars. Even in the CCTV footage, their faces were visible and all the accused belong to 20 to 22 years age group.”

In the statement to the police, all the four accused admitted of committing the crime and said they were all drunk and first they smashed the window panes of the PG and later targeted the cars parked near the house.The police have registered a case against them on the complaint of one Ravinder Singh, resident of Sector 68, under sections 379, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.The accused will be produced in the court on Monday.
