An agriculturist, Gurjeet Singh, tied the nuptial knot with Nayagaon resident Jasmeet Kaur on Saturday.

Gurjeet Singh took everyone by surprise when the helicopter landed at a specially made helipad after the wedding. A large number of residents assembled near the helicopter.

"I had dreamt of taking my daughter-in-law home in a helicopter. I had booked a helicopter during the marriage of my elder son too, but the weather had played spoilsport on that day.

Even today, the helicopter could not take off in the morning due to bad weather, but it arrived in the afternoon and my long-cherished dream came true," said Amrik Singh, father of the groom.

He added, "I had got the helicopter booked from a Delhi-based company after paying Rs. 6 lakh."
This is the second time in this area when a groom had flown his bride in a helicopter.

Earlier, in March 2012, Kanwaljeet Singh, a resident of Manakpur Kalar (Banur), who too is an agriculturist, had arrived in the helicopter to marry Sukhwinder Kaur of Chappar Chiri village.

After the wedding, the newlyweds flew back in the helicopter. The family had then hired the helicopter for Rs. 70,000 an hour and the chopper was hired for six hours.
