Haryana cabinet nod to revised toll policy

The Haryana cabinet on Tuesday approved the revised toll policy to mitigate the high toll charges under the 2008 toll policy of the central government for users of national highways in the state. The new policy will be effective from midnight of August 14-15.

An official spokesperson said as a result of the concession to be given to the people at different toll plazas, the toll point at Dighal on NH-71 will benefit people of 92 villages of Jhajjar district and residents of 78 villages of Rohtak district.

In case of NH-71A, the toll point at Makrauli Kalan would benefit residents of 74 villages in district Rohtak, two villages of Jhajjar district and 33 villages of Sonepat district.

Similarly, in case of toll point at Dahar on NH-71A, residents of 92 villages of Panipat and Sonepat districts would be benefitted.

In case of NH-71, the toll point at Gangaycha Jat, the residents of 224 villages in Rewari district would be benefitted with concession in toll. In case of NH-2, for the toll point at Palwal, residents of 222 villages in Palwal district would be benefitted.

It was decided that in case of local passes to be issued to car and jeep owners residing in a radius of 20 km from the toll point at Palwal, the facility would be admissible to both having the registration number Haryana or other states. The state government will give 75% subsidy on local passes.

In case of the owners of cars and jeeps residing in a radius of 35 km from four toll plazas of Dighal, Makrauli Kalan, Dahar and Gangaycha Jat, the government will bear 75% of the expenditure for issuing monthly passes. Also, in case of owners of light commercial vehicles (Tata 407), bus and JCBs residing in a radius of 30 km from these toll points, the government will bear 50% of the expenditure in issuing monthly passes.

It was decided that the government would pay its share in advance to the concessionaires. The government would pay to the concessionaires within seven days of raising the bill. The XEN, public works (building and roads) department would operate an account and the Haryana State Roads Development Corporation would handle the payments on behalf of the state government.

It also approved the proposal of the public works (building and roads) department to issue an advertisement announcing the toll relief policy and the villages where the facility of monthly passes will be available for the respective toll plazas. Those seeking monthly passes would have to apply for the same with the sub-divisional magistrate concerned.
