Police on Friday arrested a person and recovered 13 kg of heroin worth Rs. 65 crore in the street market here, a senior official said.

Acting on a tip off, police stopped a vehicle coming towards Tarn Taran and recovered heroin, four pistols, 20 cartridges, a mobile with Pakistani sim card and cash worth Rs. 36 lakh from Gurjit Singh, a resident of Rasulpur, said Ishwar Chander, IGP, Border Zone, Punjab.

However, a group of smugglers in another vehicle who were following the vehicle sped away after watching the police team, he said.

The other members of this gang were identified as Vicky Kumar, Jagjit Singh Jaggi, Avtar Singh, Nirvail Singh, Harshanpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh Bholu and Amarjit Singh who would be nabbed soon, the IGP said.
