The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) will have 40 elected members.

Till elections are held, an ad hoc 41-member committee, nominated by the Haryana government, will be at the helm of the HSGMC.

The first election to the HSGMC will be held in 18 months. Each member will have a term of five years.

Only Amritdhari Sikhs, above the age of 25 years, will be eligible to be HSGMC members.

The electoral college will comprise Haryana resident Sikhs. The Act is silent on voting rights to Sehajdharis (non-Sikhs who declare their faith in Guru Granth Sahib).

HSGMC will have its headquarters at Kurukshetra.

It will manage 25 gurdwaras, including eight historical ones, their properties and Sikh educational institutions, in Haryana that are run by SGPC at present.

The new Act provides for a three-member Sikh Gurdwara Judicial Commission to adjudicate gurdwara property disputes.
