Mohinder Singh Sidhu, father of Harjinder Sidhu, principal correspondent, Hindustan Times, Bathinda, passed away on Tuesday. He was suffering from cancer. He had retired as superintendent of police, Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur.


He was cremated in Ludhiana on Thursday. Hundreds of people, including members of the police pensioners' association, attended the cremation.

Bhog ceremony will be held at Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Model Town extension, Ludhiana, at 1pm on October 15 (Monday).

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, member of Parliament from Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh expressed grief at the demise of Mohinder Singh Sidhu.

Sardulgarh MLA Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, Congress leader Karam Singh Chohan and Bathinda Press Club president SP Sharma also expressed condolences.
