A day after the body of a 16-year-old girl from Morni was recovered from a nearby forest and the police booked her boyfriend with whom she had eloped, the police added charges of rape against the 17-year-old boy.
The boy, a Class-11 student, and the girl, studying in Class 10, had eloped on December 27, as per the boy’s claims, after school. Since their love affair was against their parents’ wishes, they had decided to kill themselves, claimed the boy, and added that while the girl died, he had survived.
He had told the police that they had taken aluminum phosphide tablets, and he happened to vomit it out. The post-mortem revealed that the girl died of poisoning. Also, two of her right hand’s fingers were missing as probably an animal had mutilated the body.
As there were abrasions all over her body, which could have taken place due to scuffle, the police are investigating further. “We will take opinion from doctors about it. It could be possible that a scuffle had taken place between the boy and the girl,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Panchkula, Ashwin Shenvi.
A half-burnt SIM card of the accused was recovered from the spot, and the last recorded location of the SIM was found in Kot Billa village in Barwala.
As per the boy’s statement, both he and the girl had gone to a nearby forest where they spent the evening. As it was getting cold they also put their books on fire. By the night, they decided to commit suicide and the boy bought aluminium phosphide tablets from the market.
