Indian-origin doctor Jaswinder S Bamrah, consultant psychiatrist in Manchester, has bagged the Asian Lite Professional Excellence Award for his contribution to the medical field in the UK.
Peter W Mount, chairman of the Central Manchester Foundation Trust, presented the award to Dr Bamrah at a ceremony in Manchester on Friday night.
Those present on the occasion included Manchester mayor Naeem Ul Hassan, police commissioner Tony Lloyd, Trafford mayor Dylan Butt, British Medical Association vice-chairman Kailash Chand and BAPIO chairman Rajan Madhok.
The award panel, chaired by former Manchester mayor Afzal Khan said, "Dr Bamrah is a dedicated medical professional conducting a large number of lectures nationally to psychiatrists, general practitioners, to other disciplines and voluntary organisations."
Dr Bamrah took his medical degree from Government Medical College, Patiala in 1978. He was enrolled at Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, in 1985.
