The under-fire Indian cricket team on Friday left for Bangladesh to participate in the ICC World Twenty20 Championships without holding the customary pre-departure press conference here.

The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led outfit, which was humiliated in the tours of South Africa and New Zealand before coming a cropper in the Asia Cup, chose to avoid any questions before leaving for the ICC World Twenty20 scheduled from March 16 to April 6.

Team coach Duncan Fletcher was, however, not with the team at the time of departure amid speculation that he had been summoned by BCCI chief N Srinivasan to explain the team's poor results.

This is the first time that the Indian team has left for an ICC event without addressing the media here.

Last year, Dhoni and Fletcher had addressed the controversial press conference before the Champions Trophy in England. Dhoni had remained mum on the IPL corruption scandal in that interaction.

Virat Kohli, who had captained the team in Dhoni's absence in the Asia Cup, had also not addressed a re-departure press conference before leaving for the tournament in Bangladesh.

The former champions would open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on March 21 at Mirpur in a Super 10 game and then take on the West Indies on March 23 at the same venue.

The 15-strong squad would warm up for the championship by playing a couple of practice games against Sri Lanka, March 17 and England on March 19.

Squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Stuart Binny, Amit Mishra, Mohit Sharma and Varun Aaron.
