Kingpin of cheating in railway job exam held

The UT police's cyber crime wing on Wednesday arrested the alleged mastermind of the leak of a question paper of group-D job exam of the Northern Railways. The scam had come to light on December 8, and six beneficiaries had been arrested. "Kingpin" Ashok Kumar, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, was arrested by from the city and would be produced in court on Thursday.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in charge of the cyber cell, Rajesh Kalia, said, "We will seek remand of the accused as more information needs to be extracted from him." The accused is a Class-12 passout and a farmer.

The case had been registered on a complaint by Sudesh Raghav, principal of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 46, who was was deployed as supervisor at one of the centres for the Railway Recruitment Board exam. She had caught six examinees cheating by using their mobile phones, on which they were receiving answers. These six beneficiaries included Narender, Kuldeep and Deepak of Jhajjar; Devender and Gulab of Rohtak and Dalbir Singh of Sonepat. The police also seized four mobile phones and some photocopied chits from them.
