The train is carrying 1,700 passengers on a five-day pilgrimage.

Kirron Kher congratulated the organisers for holding the event which was an initiative by the Chandigarh-based organisation, Mata Tripta Charitable Trust.

The chief organiser of the event, Artinderjit Singh, said the event was a dream come true for several aspiring pilgrims, including the aged and underprivileged, who had been longing to visit the sacred shrine but could not do so because of lack of convenient arrangement.

Those aboard the special train include nearly fifty needy people and children who have not been charged for the pilgrimage.

Singh added arrangements had been made to ensure availability of routine provisions enroute the 21-hour journey like preparation and distribution of langar, medical aid and other essentials for the comfort of passengers.

Pilgrims include people from tricity, New Delhi and other cities of India as well as people from countries like the US, Australia and Canada.

The pilgrims will return on August 18.
