Police have arrested four youths, allegedly absconding after fatally shooting a local lawyer Amarpreet Singh outside his house over parking of vehicles in front of the gate of his house in Phase 3A a month ago, from Indore city of Madhya Pradesh.

The accused arrested on Monday night were identified as Sunil Bhanot (26) alias Vicky Chhoti of Sector 45 in Chandigarh, Rajat (24) of Burail, Dharminder Singh (26) alias Gogli of Ludhiana, a proclaimed offender in a murder case and Vishal (26) of Delhi. Police also seized four weapons used in the crime.

With their arrest, police have so far arrested eight of the nine accused named in the FIR into the murder that was committed on February 27. Only Kevin Sushant alias Richi of Kharar is still at large. He is named as an accused in cases of assault.

“The accused were arrested from Indore on Monday night. They would be brought to SAS Nagar after their three-day transit remand was granted by the court in Indore,” said senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on Tuesday while talking to media persons.

The SAS Nagar police, with the help of Indore police, nabbed the accused from a rented accommodation where they were staying posing as law students.

“The raid was conducted on specific information. The accused were nabbed from a house they had rented for Rs. 10,000 per month after claiming themselves to be students of law. The accused were playing cards when police raided the premises. Two .32 bore pistols and two 7.62 bore firearms along with cartridges were also seized. A black Elantra car owned by accused Dharminder was also seized,” added Bhullar.

He said that CIA incharge Gurcharan Singh, ASI Ram Darshan and constable Daljinder Singh, associated with the investigation in the case, would be awarded.
Ludhiana resident held for harboring

Police have also arrested 19-year-old Avneet Singh alias Kamal of Mullanpur Dakha village in Ludhiana district on charge of harbouring the accused. He is known to Dharminder. Avneet had left home after telling his family that he was going to Bangkok. He took along Rs. 40,000, which the accused spent during their hiding. He also supplied SIM cards procured on fake identity proofs to the accused. Police had also arrested Devinder from Jagraon on charge of harbouring the accused.
Tech-smart accused tried to outwit police

The accused, in order to avoid arrest, made sure that they did not use mobile phones or ATM or credit cards during hiding. The accused arranged for cash from friends instead of operating bank accounts to avoid tracking.
Accused stayed in Indore hotel before renting rooms

Police claimed that after the murder of lawyer Amarpreet Singh, all the accused fled to Himachal, from where they dispersed. The accused even stayed at Jagraon for a short while before heading towards Indore. Sources said the accused stayed at a hotel in Indore, the arrangements for which were made by Ujjawal, a friend of Vishal. The accused then rented accommodation, from where they were nabbed.
