The deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday urged the youth to lead the ‘Congress Hatao Desh Bachao’ movement in Punjab, asserting that the Congress led UPA government, had failed to give any direction to the youth of the country.
Addressing a youth rally after inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by senior Akali leader Harjinder Singh Balongi at New Sunny Enclave, Kharar, Badal said keeping in view the deteriorating financial condition of the nation, a major change in the polity of India was inevitable.
Referring to the pace of development, witnessed in Punjab for the past seven years, Badal said the development of the state had always been the top priority of the SAD-BJP government. “People will witness massive and unprecedented growth in every sector in the next two years,” he added.
He said in the coming two years an amount of ` 15,000 crore would be spent on strengthening the road network in the state.
He also said in order to modernise SAS Nagar and its surrounding towns, an amount of ` 2,500 crore would be spent entirely on improving the infrastructure.
Lashing out at the opposition parties for their irrelevant hue and cry over the empty state coffers, Badal said the overall development in the state spoke volumes about the financial health of Punjab.
Prominent among others who addressed the rally, included Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, Jarnail Singh Bajwa, and other leaders of SAD-BJP leaders of the state.
