In the so-called fast and modern world of today, there are very few individuals who do their best to spread cheer and joy. But, those who do this use every opportunity to turn gloomy faces into happy ones with their comic tales.
Lucky are those who have such people around. I often feel that they are like the gifts from god as they take away our worries and tensions and lift our spirits through their funny words and stories.
One must admit that life without such individuals can become lackadaisical and sluggish. We should be thankful to television channels for rediscovering comedy shows. Truly, such programmes have added charm to our daily lives. Many comedians have attained fame and have become household names. Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh, Sudesh Lehri and Chandan Prabhakar are a few such names. Most of us eagerly await their shows. These shows are popular even in hospitals where patients watch them and forget their illness for some time.
Coming to the credentials of comedians, they are intelligent people who observe things around them.
They have the patience to observe different situations and characters and then present their positive and negative aspects with a comic touch. This not only entertains but also inspires us.
Comedians are no less than flowers in a garden that add beauty to it. They keep us jovial even when we are down.
How can I forget our Punjabi teacher, Shanni Dhaliwal, who would look for ways to make us laugh. He was no professional comedian but his lessons interspersed with interesting titbits made us look up to him. Though he is no more and it has been years since we left school, we do cherish his memory on alumni meets.
A few years ago, I came across satirist Jaspal Bhatti and his wife at the Delhi airport. They looked cheerful. I noticed that whoever saw them turned cheerful. As I approached them requesting for a picture, I forgot the long and tiring journey. The constant smile on their faces left a favourable impression on me. Though the great comedian is no more, his hilarious films and TV serials still leave me in splits.
The world around is full of misery and anguish, so we should all be proud of comedians and those who follow in their footsteps to put our worries behind. After all, they give birth to thousands of smiles and unlimited laughter, which is the best medicine.
