The victim, who was married, has been identified as Dinesh, a resident of Sarabha Nagar in Ludhiana. Dinesh's body was found floating at the regulator end of the lake around 4 pm.

Quoting members of the victim's family, the police said Dinesh was suffering from depression and was getting treatment for the ailment. About three days ago, Dinesh drove down all the way from Ludhiana to reach Sukhna Lake, but the family came to know about this and they took him back.
