In the eventuality of the non-arrest of any of the assaulters on senior Punjab cadre IAS officer K S Pannu so far, the Punjab Police on Sunday however arrested a Ludhiana resident on the charges of uploading the clipping of the incident in which Pannu was badly beaten up and abused by a group of Sikhs at Gobindghat in Uttarakhand during the rescue operations last week.

The accused, identified as Gurvinder Singh alias Baba Panesar has been arrested under sections 66-A of the IT Act and 295-A, 298, 500, 120-B IPC, a police spokesman said.

The accused was produced in the Mohali district court on Sunday and remanded in police custody for 4 days.

However, there has not been any information from the police so far about the identity of the attackers against whom a case has already been registered in Uttarakhand.

Pannu had lodged a formal complaint with the Punjab Police on his return, pointing out that the incident clipping uploaded on social websites like facebook and the You Tube had further hurt his sentiments and this was done to further humiliate him, following which an FIR was registered in Punjab Cyber Crime Police Station, Mohali, the spokesman said.
