A man allegedly molested his 49-year-old mother-in-law at her house in Luxmi Nagar on Wednesday.

When she raised an alarm, the accused, who has been identified as Bikramjit Singh, 28, of Amloh Road of Khanna, managed to flee. In her complaint the victim said her daughter married Bikramjit around three years ago.

For the past few days, her daughter was living with her following marital discord.

She alleged that on Wednesday evening, Bikramjit came to her house and enquired about his wife. When he was told that his wife was not at home, he started hurling abuses at her, the woman alleged.

As the altercation intensified, Bikramjit thrashed her, molested her and also tore off her clothes, before fleeing the spot, she further alleged.

The woman approached the Division Number 4 police station that booked Bikramjit under sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Inspector Rampal, station house officer (SHO) at Division Number 4 police station, said they had launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.

Terror, then and now

Three decades back, the closest a child got to Terror was when he was caught doing mischief by an elder or stuck in a dark cinema hall watching a film where the villain seemed all powerful. The way out of the crisis was to say a silent prayer, and it usually worked. Writes Yojana Yadav.
