Local resident Mohinder Singh, who has been accused of preparing a fake death certificate of his brother Narinder Singh, has claimed that the case was sub-judice.

He also alleged that health and family welfare chief parliamentary secretary Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu was not correctly seized of the matter.

Claiming that his Narinder Singh brother resided with his mother Tej Kaur at her maternal village Garrangan in SAS Nagar district and had died in 2006, he added that the complainant was actually one Swaran Singh, son of Garja Singh of village Behrampur Zimidara, Rupnagar.

He claimed that various cases were pending in the courts, including one relating to the death certificate of Narinder Singh and any comments on the matter could be interpreted as contempt of court.

He added that since the matter was pending in court, the death certificate could not be cancelled by the health authorities.

On Tuesday, Dr Sidhu had visited Rupnagar civil surgeon office and had pulled up health department officials for allegedly preparing the death certificate Narinder Singh and had directed the officials to cancel the certificate at the earliest.
