Maximum few notches above normal in Punjab, Haryana

Maximum temperatures on Monday hovered a few notches above normal level in Punjab and Haryana even as light rains lashed some places in the region.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 36.4 degrees Celsius, up by one degree above normal, Met department report said.

The union territory received 0.2 mm of rain.

In Haryana, Ambala, Bhiwani, Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded maximum of 36.9 deg C, 40 deg C, 41.3 deg C, 36 deg C, and 38.1 deg C respectively.

In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala received rainfall of 0.7 mm and 0.2 mm while their maximum were 36.1 deg C and 36.4 deg C respectively.

Amritsar recorded 38.4 degree Celsius temperature, up by three notches above normal.

The Met department has predicted partly cloudy weather in next 24 hours in Punjab and Haryana.

High on booze, 2 women smash car windows in Sector 26; arrested

Two women were arrested for creating ruckus in an inebriated condition and breaking the windows of two cars, including that of local Congress president BB Bahl, in Sector 26 on Wednesday night. The accused have been identified as Anu, 32, and Navi Brar, 31, both residents of SAS Nagar.
