In a bid to check the depletion of groundwater level by promoting micro irrigation system, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has approved hike in the subsidy from 50% to 80% for farmers in general.

The women farmers and the scheduled caste community peasants would get 90% subsidy as per the revived policy on micro irrigation, a spokesman stated here on Sunday. The subsidy has been increased across the board with no limit in terms of the cultivated area.
