Almost two months after UT woman constable Reeta, 25, went missing, the Chandigarh police have transferred the investigation of the case to Panipat police.

The decision to transfer the case to Panipat police was taken after not even a single clue was found about the missing cop from the city.

Reeta, who was posted with the Chandigarh police control room, went missing on June 7. The family of missing constable had also protested outside the police headquarters and demanded that the case be transferred to the Haryana police as the Chandigarh police were unable to trace their daughter.

The UT police had also taken permission for conducting a narco analysis test on Chandigarh police constable Ravinder in connection with this case.

Deputy superintendant of police (DSP), central, Ashish Kapoor said, “The case was transferred to Haryana police in July end. The narco test on Ravinder will also be conducted by the Haryana police. They will get a date from the Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory.”

The police have explored all angles, including the role of Reeta’s parents in her mysterious disappearance. Ravinder had been questioned several times by the police, but he had been claiming that he was not aware of her whereabouts.

A day before her disappearance, Reeta has gone with Ravinder to buy some household articles and later left for her hometown Panipat. Ravinder and his wife had claimed that Reeta was just like his sister.

Reeta had reached Panipat on the night of June 7 and stayed at her home. She went missing the next day from Panipat railway station, from where her bag was found.

The police questioned her parents, cousins and brother, suspecting the role of her family as discrepancies were found in their statements given to the police. Police have also not ruled out honour killing in the disappearance case.

The police have in the past also informed the Haryana and Delhi police and flashed the photograph of the cop to know about her whereabouts. The missing cop’s mobile tower location was last tracked to Karnal and teams were sent there.
