Officer on special duty with the municipal corporation AK Dadwal allegedly did not reflect the money received (around 70,000) for allowing the BJP to install four LEDs during party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s ‘Bharat Vijay Rally’ held on March 29 at the Exhibition Ground, Sector 34 in the civic body’ accounts.

The amount was to be charged as using the LEDs fell under the commercial activity.

Sources said that the officer did not take the money in advance as prescribed under the rules.

Another employee of the MC confirmed the above, on condition of anonymity and claimed that the party had deposited only 24,000 as ground charges, but payment for the use of LEDs was not received. The LEDs were used to show a short film on Modi and highlight the BJP’s achievements.

When contacted, joint commissioner of MC Rajiv Gupta, “I am not aware, whether the money has been deposited or not, but will check on Tuesday.”

The officer Dadwal could not be contacted even after repeated attempts.

Congress councilor Pardeep Chhabra said, “We will raise the issue with the top brass of the MC and ensure that the position is clarified.”

The officer AK Dadwal is no stranger to controversy. In March, he reportedly cancelled around 20 bookings at Sector-40 community centre, without intimating the residents. In February, the audit department of MC shot off a letter to the joint commissioner of MC asking him to recover 2.38 lakh from Dadwal. This was as he had kept the amount with himself for four months during his posting as a sub-divisional engineer with electrical wing of MC. He was also forced to pay surcharge.
