BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday appointed Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya as the party's election in-charge for poll-bound Haryana.

The party, which wants to form a government of its own in the state, is in the process of selecting candidates for the Assembly elections.

Though BJP is in alliance with Haryana Janhit Morcha of former chief minister Bhajan Lal's son Kuldeep Bishnoi, there is uncertainty over the continuance of the tie-up which is currently under strain due to differences on seat-sharing.

While Bishnoi is seeking 50 per cent seats and that he be declared the chief ministerial candidate of the alliance, the BJP is opposed to such a move and wants him to climb down on the issue of seats and leave the CM's post to it, in line with the Lok Sabha poll results.

Talks are underway between Bishnoi and top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, for scaling down his demand for seats on which the HJC chief has agreed to some extent.

Sources say Bishnoi is ready to contest on 30 seats out of the total of 90 seats, leaving the remaining 60 to BJP as also the CM's post. BJP is wanting to bring him down further to 15-20 seats even as parleys between the two are continuing.

Meanwhile, hordes of candidates, who feel that BJP's prospects are bright in the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls, have been swarming the BJP headquarters in Delhi and meeting party leaders in their bid to get a party ticket.

The term of current Haryana Assembly ends on October 27 and the Election Commission is likely to declare poll dates soon.
