Shiromani Akali Dal- BJP alliance candidate from Anandpur Sahib Prem Singh Chandumajra on Monday assured people that with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coming to power at the Centre, injustice and discrimination done to Punjab would end and the state would enter a new era of all-round development.

Addressing a rally in Phase 2, SAS Nagar, he said Punjab was discriminated against as water from the state rivers was diverted to other states, violating constitutionally accepted Riparian law.

He said going against the spirit of the constitution, the successive Congress governments at the Centre centralised all powers and reduced the states to the level of municipalities.

He said under the NDA government, the states would be given more financial and administrative autonomy to usher in higher orbit of development.

Spelling out his agenda for SAS Nagar, Chandumajra said his manifesto would include starting international airport at the earliest, to create one lakh employment avenues by encouraging industrial investment, to reduce property tax and to allow need-based changes in residential areas.

SAD leader Harnek Singh Gharuan said it was a matter of pride that Chandumajra was an experienced parliamentarian whose residence was in SAS Nagar as against Congress candidate Ambika Soni who had been paradropped from Delhi.

She was never concerned with issues concerning Punjab while being a minister at the Centre.
